Not all faux leathers are created equal

We have recently begun phasing out all vinyl, and vinylized fabrics from our products in favor of Polyurethane faux leathers. Polyurethane or urethane is a greener alternative to PVC (vinyl) and leather in both it’s production and biodegradability. PVC is a chloride containing material that leaches out dioxin, (a toxic carcinogen) and it does not biodegrade. The production of real leather is also hazardous to the environment due to the use of heavy metals in the chemical processing.

Polyurethane is 100% biodegradable. Naturally soft and pliable, urethane leather feels more like the real thing, breathes better than vinyl and does not recquire the use of any toxic solvents that PVC vinyl and leather require for softening.
